The fintech industry has experienced a significantly surged over the years owing to its massive adoption. However, many gaps are yet to be covered as financial inclusion is still not fulfilled in some aspects. To bridge this gap in Ghana, the Ghana Fintech Awards, an initiative developed by Arkel Consult and Management Services (ACMS) Limited, is set to promote financial inclusion by creating various award categories for Fintechs in the country and its environs.
One of the organisers of the Ghana Fintech Awards, Mr Emmanuel Atsu, the Co-Founder/ Managing Partner of Arkel Limited, shared with Techpression how their initiation is contributing to financial inclusion in Ghana.
Mr Atsu revealed that the objective of the Ghana FinTech Awards is to recognise and honour the efforts and accomplishments of individuals and businesses who are creating last-mile solutions. The program is organised by Arkel Consult and Management Services (ACMS) Limited and sponsored by other voluntary organisations.
The Ghana Fintech Awards for 2023, which was themed: “Leveraging on Fintech’s; an opportunity to achieve economic empowerment and financial inclusion,” took place on January 27, 2023, at Ladabi beach Hotel, Lababi. It was sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Netherlands, The Blu Penguin, Precept, Tarragon Edge, Taptap Send, and the International Trade Centre.
Mr Atsu was pleased to share some of the milestones of the Ghana Fintech Awards with Techpression.
“The Ghana Fintech Award has gained a lot of recognition which has attracted partnerships with KPMG, Ghana Fintech and Payments Association, Ghana Fintech Outlook, Eazytagg Technologies, African Fintech Network, Ghana Startup Network, Global Policy House, Innovation Spark, Institute of ICT Professionals Ghana, Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council, SME Chambers, and Arkel Consult and Management Services Limited, with the latter being the event organisers.”
