Btrust, a non-profit organisation dedicated to decentralising Bitcoin software development, has announced its partnership with the Africa Bitcoin Conference (ABC) to host the Btrust Developer Day 2025 in Mauritius.
Scheduled for December 2 at the Trianon Convention Centre in Port Louis, the event will serve as a technical official start to the Africa Bitcoin Conference, which will be held from December 3 to 5.
This collaboration aims to foster local innovation while encouraging African developers to contribute to the global Bitcoin ecosystem.
Over 250 attend Kenya edition of the event
The Btrust Developer Day is a key initiative designed to nurture Africa’s growing community of Bitcoin developers, builders, and open-source contributors.
Following the success of the 2024 edition in Nairobi, which attracted over 250 participants, the 2025 event promises an even more enriching experience with technical workshops, hands-on sessions, and networking opportunities.
This year’s theme, “Build Locally, Contribute Globally”, underscores Btrust’s mission to support developers in solving regional challenges while making meaningful contributions to Bitcoin’s global infrastructure.
Abubakar Nur Khalil, CEO of Btrust, emphasised the importance of aligning Bitcoin development with real-world usage:
“This year’s Dev Day aims to reframe the development effort toward addressing local challenges as a more effective mechanism to contribute to Bitcoin’s core use cases as money and resilience as a global tool. The event will also set the stage for the Africa Bitcoin Conference 2025, where industry leaders, policymakers, and entrepreneurs will discuss Bitcoin’s role in advancing financial inclusion and economic growth across Africa.
