The “Digital Divas” theme emphasised leveraging technology, social media, and digital platforms throughout the competition. Contestants were encouraged to engage with their audiences online, showcasing their personalities and advocacy efforts beyond the traditional pageant format. This approach reflects a broader trend in the beauty industry, where digital engagement is crucial for connecting with fans and promoting social causes.

The public’s voting was also crucial in the competition so that fans could vote for their preferred candidates several times. New technological advancements such as Twitter, Facebook, and many others have changed how pageants are conducted, allowing people to vote online.

Chidimma Adetshina’s journey and advocacy

Chidimma Adetshina had quite an eventful journey to the crown and had proven her resilience. She also promised only to use her crown for the diseased. Because of her Nigerian background, she was embarrassed in the Miss South Africa talent show for which she had previously competed and had to withdraw her candidacy. This made her realise she could come out of the closet and become more of herself through her bid for Miss Universe Nigeria.

Adetshina’s success sends a message about creating an even stronger focus on diversity and using technology to impact society positively. She also wants to use the title to spread the importance of diversity in the formation of solid communities enhanced by технологии.
