Henan Kaifeng Air Separation Co., Ltd. has commissioned a high-capacity cryogenic air separation unit in Khouribga, Morocco. The project marks a key milestone in China-Morocco industrial cooperation, showcasing the strength of Chinese engineering in delivering large-scale infrastructure under challenging climate conditions.

The newly operational system is designed to extract and purify industrial gases—oxygen, nitrogen, and argon—using cutting-edge molecular adsorption and cryogenic separation technologies. It delivers ultra-pure gases that meet and exceed global quality standards, enabling high-performance applications in metallurgy, chemical production, electronics, and healthcare.

Cryogenic air separation technology enhances industrial gas supply in Morocco

The unit installed in Khouribga features the KDON(Ar)-3000/6000/110 model, a high-capacity cryogenic system engineered to ensure efficiency and reliability in gas separation. With its advanced molecular adsorption process and cryogenic distillation, it produces oxygen, nitrogen, and argon at purity levels that align with strict international benchmarks.

This level of performance is particularly crucial for Moroccan industries, which rely on clean and stable gas supplies for manufacturing, refining, and medical purposes. The project, praised by local operators, has already demonstrated consistent and smooth operation despite the country’s extreme weather shifts. This success proves that Henan Kaifeng’s technology is both robust and adaptable, capable of maintaining performance across varied environments.

Chinese engineering strengthens Morocco’s industrial infrastructure

The successful deployment of this cryogenic system reflects China’s growing role in global industrial partnerships, particularly in North Africa. Henan Kaifeng’s ability to navigate local environmental challenges in Khouribga shows not only technical expertise but also an understanding of cross-border project management and site-specific engineering solutions.

According to media reports, the smooth execution of this project is expected to pave the way for more collaborative ventures between China and Morocco. It also serves as a model for how Chinese technology firms can contribute to strengthening industrial capabilities in developing markets through high-tech, scalable solutions.

Sino-Moroccan technology cooperation

This project symbolises more than just a successful engineering feat—it marks a deepening of bilateral ties rooted in shared development goals. By investing in high-tech infrastructure, such as cryogenic separation units, both countries are advancing their mutual interests in industrial growth, knowledge transfer, and sustainable development.

As demand for advanced manufacturing and healthcare solutions grows across Africa, the role of reliable gas infrastructure becomes increasingly vital. China’s commitment, demonstrated through Henan Kaifeng’s achievements, shows how technological partnerships can fuel economic progress and support long-term development across the Global South.

High purity gases serve key Moroccan industries

Now fully operational, the Khouribga facility supplies ultra-pure gases to various sectors in Morocco. From steelmaking and chemical synthesis to hospital oxygen delivery systems, the importance of consistent, high-quality gas supply cannot be overstated. Henan Kaifeng’s success in Morocco may be the first of many such ventures across the continent, further positioning Chinese engineering as a force in the region’s industrial transformation.
