Chowdeck, a delivery network based in Nigeria, formally began operations in Ghana on Tuesday, beginning in Accra and emphasising customer and rider rewards. This move marks Chowdeck’s first step in its pan-African expansion, aiming to transform the on-demand delivery market in Ghana with innovative incentives and training programs.
Chowdeck rewards new Ghana users
Chowdeck is attracting Ghanaian customers with enticing rewards. New users receive GHS10 off their first and second orders through referrals, plus access to the Chowscore loyalty program, which offers free delivery and unlimited 25 percent discounts on orders.
This loyalty program is designed to keep users engaged and returning, making Chowdeck a competitive choice in Accra’s food and grocery delivery scene.
Customers can order food, groceries, and household essentials with an average delivery time of 30 minutes. The platform currently covers key Accra neighborhoods such as Osu, Cantonments, Labone, Airport, Dzorwulu, East Legon, Madina, Adenta, Oyarifa, and Abokobi.
Chowdeck supports Ghanaian riders with training and loan options
Chowdeck is equally focused on empowering its riders. New Ghanaian riders undergo comprehensive training on app usage, professionalism, customer service, and delivery quality. Beyond training, the company offers a Rider Games system that rewards performance with cash bonuses and provides loans up to GHS1,000 based on activity levels. Ongoing training sessions ensure riders maintain high service standards.
Henry Whyte, Chowdeck Ghana’s Head of Operations and former Bolt Ghana operations lead, emphasized the company’s commitment: “We’re here to raise the supporting merchants, empowering consumers, and creating well-paid jobs.”
CEO Femi Aluko added, “This expansion is more than just growth – it’s about building infrastructure for commerce and convenience across the continent.” These statements underline Chowdeck’s mission to enhance the delivery ecosystem in Ghana.
Chowdeck enters Ghana's booming digital food delivery market
Chowdeck’s launch in Accra aligns with Ghana’s rapidly growing digital economy. With 87 percent of consumers accessing food delivery via mobile and digital transactions projected to reach $2.35 billion by 2025, the timing is ideal for a tech-driven delivery service. Chowdeck’s platform leverages advanced logistics technology to serve consumers and businesses, aiming to meet the rising demand efficiently.
Chowdeck’s expansion follows operational improvements and growth in Nigeria, where it currently serves 1.5 million users and employs over 20,000 riders across 11 cities. The Ghana launch is a strategic move to replicate this success in a promising new market.
