The battle for smartphone supremacy continues, and this time, Samsung pits the Galaxy S24 against its predecessor, the Galaxy S23+. While both phones are high-end offerings from the tech giant, the S24 boasts several improvements that might entice potential buyers.

Let’s delve deeper into the key differences between these two devices.

Display: Brighter and More Efficient

At first glance, the displays of both phones might seem identical. They share the same 6.6-inch size, Dynamic AMOLED technology, 19.5:9 aspect ratio, and 390 PPI resolution.

However, the S24 takes the lead in peak brightness, reaching an impressive 2600 nits compared to the S23+’s 1750 nits, which translates to better visibility, especially under harsh sunlight, making the S24 ideal for outdoor use.

Furthermore, the S24 introduces a more efficient refresh rate technology. While both phones offer a smooth 120Hz refresh rate for seamless scrolling and gaming, the S24 can go as low as 1Hz for static content. This dynamic adjustment helps conserve battery life when displaying constant images, potentially extending your usage time compared to the S23+, which maintains a minimum of 48.

Performance and Battery

The S24 and S23+ are expected to be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon processors, ensuring top-notch performance for demanding tasks and multitasking. However, the specific model for the S24 remains under wraps. Considering Samsung’s usual approach, the S24 will likely pack a more powerful processor than its predecessor, offering a potential performance edge.

The S24 also boasts a slight advantage in the battery department. It has a larger 4900 mAh battery than the S23+’s 4700 mAh battery. While the real-world battery life difference might be subtle, the S24’s larger capacity could offer extended usage time on a single charge. Both phones support fast charging and wireless charging for added convenience.

Camera: Subtle Enhancements Expected

The S24 and S23+ sport a triple-lens rear camera system, and the specifics of the S24’s camera setup are yet to be revealed. While major hardware upgrades might be absent, the S24 might introduce subtle improvements in sensor technology, lens configurations, or image processing algorithms. Both phones are expected to benefit from Samsung’s latest camera software enhancements, offering better image quality and advanced features.

Beyond the core specifications, the S24 might have additional software features or functionalities that have yet to be revealed. The S24 is still not officially released, and some details, including the final software features, might change before its official launch.

Are you making a choice: Evolution or Value?

The Samsung Galaxy S24 appears to be an evolutionary upgrade over the Galaxy S23+. While the core design and display size remain similar, the S24 offers a potentially brighter display, a more efficient refresh rate, a larger battery, and likely some performance and camera technology improvements.

Choosing between the two phones ultimately boils down to individual needs and budget. If you prioritise the latest advancements in display technology, battery life, and potential camera improvements, the S24 might be worth considering.

However, if you’re looking for a good value and the S23+ meets your needs, it might still be a compelling option, especially considering the potential price difference between the two models.
