On Wednesday, January 22, in Brazzaville, Congolese Minister of Posts, Telecommunications, and Digital Economy Leon Juste Ibombo revealed a bold plan to tackle the problems of social, financial, and digital inclusion by the end of this year.

He reiterated his intention to change the industry in line with President Denis Sassou N’Guesso‘s orders, which demanded “tangible results” at the previous Council of Ministers.

This program is a component of the “Congo Digital 2025” strategy, which is set to end this year.

“The President of the Republic firmly reminded members of the government of the need to accelerate the implementation of priority projects, a symbol of the response expected by the population to meet their essential needs. He insisted on concrete achievements,” explained Léon Juste Ibombo.

2025 roadmap for digital transformation

The Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Digital Economy has established a roadmap that is organised along a number of important axes.

Restoring a calm social environment is a top goal for the Société des Postes et de l’Épargne du Congo (SOPECO) since it is a prerequisite for resuming structural improvements and creating new, cutting-edge digital products.

As for Congo Telecom SA, the historic operator is getting ready to introduce its mobile network in the nation’s major cities. In collaboration with Huawei, the Digital Economy Development Agency (ADEN) has been given the responsibility of assisting young innovators, keeping an eye on the e-government homepage, and planning events like the Denis Sassou N’Guesso Prize.

Another important component of this roadmap is the Digital Transformation Acceleration Project (PATN). Through this project, 1,200 youth will receive digital skills training and 186 remote communities will be connected to electronic communications.

Additional measures include the Postal and Electronic Communications Regulatory Agency’s (ARPCE) efforts to reduce the digital gap and the reorganisation of the General Directorate of Posts and Telecommunications.

To guarantee the execution of critical projects, this mobilisation will be accompanied by a strict monitoring and periodic evaluation system.

This vision should make 2025 a pivotal year for digital inclusion and Congo’s socioeconomic development by modernising infrastructure and bolstering digital capabilities.
