Artefact, a global leader in data and artificial intelligence, announced on May 5, 2025, the opening of its new office in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

This move marks a major step in expanding its AI and data consulting activities across Africa. It strengthens Artefact’s presence in Francophone Africa and aims to accelerate AI adoption among local businesses.

Strategic expansion to serve francophone Africa

Since its African debut in 2020, Artefact has steadily grown its footprint with hubs in Casablanca, Cape Town, and Abidjan, bringing its total African team to over 200 employees.

Médéric Chomel, Managing Partner for Africa, emphasized the importance of this expansion: “Strengthening our presence in Côte d’Ivoire is a strategic step that allows us to better serve our clients in Francophone Africa. We look forward to working alongside ambitious local companies to deploy AI solutions that are both innovative and relevant to their specific challenges”.

The Abidjan office will be led by Fabrice Zapfack, who highlighted Artefact’s commitment to combining “global excellence with deep knowledge of local realities” to build tailored AI solutions that support inclusive growth driven by African talent.

Driving AI adoption and digital transformation

Artefact’s expansion is part of a broader ambition to accelerate AI integration across African business operations. The company focuses on data transformation and AI-driven marketing to improve productivity and competitiveness throughout the value chain.

This approach is designed to harness local proximity and global expertise, ensuring that digital solutions meet the specific needs of African markets.

Under the leadership of experienced partners like Ghita Ammor in Morocco and Deon van Heerden in South Africa, Artefact has established a strong presence in several African countries, including Senegal, Egypt, and Madagascar.

The new Abidjan office complements these hubs, reinforcing Artefact’s role as a key player in Africa’s growing tech ecosystem.

Artefact’s global vision is to support companies in harnessing AI responsibly and effectively. The company aims to shape AI adoption not just as a technological upgrade but as a driver of sustainable business growth across the continent.

This expansion underlines Artefact’s growing influence in Africa’s AI sector and its commitment to delivering innovative, locally adapted AI solutions to Francophone Africa’s businesses.
