Commercial Bank of Ethiopia’s customers will experience 12 hours and 30 minutes of service interruptions on Sunday as the bank plans to upgrade its core banking systems.
According to the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE), brief service disruption will occur on Sunday, September 21, 2025, as part of a significant system upgrade.
The bank said the upgrade will occur between 3:00 p.m. and 3:30 a.m., which is 12 hours and 30 minutes.
Core banking, internet banking, mobile banking, point-of-sale (POS), ATM services, and third-party online transactions will not be accessible during this period.
The bank advised customers to consider other options for their financial needs and to make the required preparations beforehand.
Nevertheless, the CBE Birr service would continue to function during the upgrade. Before the maintenance, customers were advised to move enough money to CBE Birr from mobile banking.
