e&, a global technology group, and Ericsson have negotiated to expedite the cloud transformation process and enhance next-generation connectivity throughout their network infrastructure.

The announcements were made at GITEX Global 2025, representing a significant milestone in improving e&’s fundamental network, operations, and service capabilities.

E&’s network will use Ericsson’s cloud-native infrastructure solutions to boost performance, speed, and reliability. This transition modernises fundamental 5G network software like UDM, IMS, and automation tools to improve network operations and service quality.

Driving Cloud transformation and next-generation connectivity

Through this multi-year collaboration, e& aims to accelerate the adoption of cloud-native architectures that are essential for 5G and beyond.

Amr Fathy, CTO of e& Egypt, said, “This agreement not only extends our longstanding partnership with Ericsson but also drives the transformation of our network. Including key technologies will facilitate the adoption of VoLTE and allow us to introduce innovative services to our customers in Egypt. With Ericsson, we are building a more agile and future-ready network that will enhance service delivery and improve operational efficiency.”

Ericsson’s deployment includes bare metal cloud-native infrastructure and network functions virtualisation to ensure robust performance and low latency.

Khaled Al Suwaidi, Senior VP of Networks at e& Emirates, noted, “Our 5G core network upgrade, in collaboration with Ericsson, aims to make everyday communication easier, faster, and more reliable for everyone in the UAE. It also enables us to launch new services faster, reduce latency, and improve call quality.”

The agreements further solidify the long-standing partnership between Ericsson and e& across numerous iterations of mobile technology.

In addition to enhancing the user experience, the enhancements will create opportunities for new business models, including immersive gaming and mission-critical Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

Petra Sherin, Head of Ericsson Gulf, said, “Our partnership with e& reflects our shared commitment to supporting the UAE’s national vision for digital transformation. We will provide the secure, high-performance connectivity essential to foster innovation across sectors.”

Ericsson and e&’s synchronised efforts exemplify a forward drive in cloud-enabled network modernisation, which is essential for the digital economy’s growing demands.
