Egyptian startup Luciq, formerly known as Instabug, has unveiled a bold shift in mobile app management with the launch of its Agentic Mobile Observability platform.
Founded in 2016 and now operating between San Francisco and Cairo under CEO Omar Gabr, the company says the system will reshape how apps are monitored, fixed, and optimised in real time.
The platform introduces Agentic Mobile Observability, a model designed to automatically detect, diagnose, and repair app issues before they reach users.
The rebrand signals a bold step in the global race to improve app reliability at a time when crashes and slow performance can instantly drive customers to competitors.
Agentic AI redefines mobile observability
Traditional monitoring tools only flag problems, leaving developers scrambling to react. Luciq’s new approach introduces AI-powered agents that directly detect, diagnose, repair, and validate issues in production environments.
Gabr explained the difference: “They don’t just raise alerts—they act, turning reactive firefighting into a proactive, self-healing process.”
Unlike generative or reactive AI, agentic AI is built to think and act toward specific goals. It can break down complex problems into smaller tasks, adapt to changing conditions, and make operational decisions without waiting for human input. On Luciq’s platform, that means fewer false alarms, automatic prioritisation based on business impact, and fixes applied before users even notice something’s wrong.
Tackling user intolerance for app failures
Even a single crash or performance slowdown can drive users away in today’s hyper-competitive digital world. Studies show that unstable apps quickly erode trust, cutting into revenue and market share. Luciq positions its solution as a way for businesses to strengthen app resilience and protect user loyalty.
By embedding intelligent agents into the app lifecycle, Luciq aims to relieve developers’ pressure. Many developers report that debugging and incident response are the most draining parts of their jobs.
From Instabug to Luciq: A new chapter
The rebrand from Instabug to Luciq.ai signals more than a name change. According to the company, it reflects a move from analytics into AI-powered agency, where software doesn’t just report but also resolves.
Jim Douglas, CEO of Luciq.ai, framed it as an industry turning point: “With Luciq.ai, we’re giving developers the freedom to build boldly while AI agents clear the chaos. This is a fundamental shift in how mobile teams approach app quality and business impact.”
Backed by Accel, Insight Partners, and Y Combinator, Luciq has raised over $50 million and already powers apps from global players like DoorDash, T-Mobile, Decathlon, and Verizon.
The company will showcase its new vision at DroidCon Berlin 2025, promising to demonstrate how its multi-agent architecture can scale enterprise adoption.
With more than 70 per cent of global digital time now spent on mobile apps, and Gartner naming app quality as a top driver of retention, Luciq is betting its agentic AI approach will set the standard for how mobile teams operate in the years ahead.
