Suplyd, the Cairo-based digital procurement platform for restaurants, announced on Monday that it has raised $2 million in a pre-Series A funding round to fuel its expansion across Egypt.
The platform, launched in 2022, connects over 5,000 restaurants directly with suppliers, tackling challenges such as unreliable supply chains, delayed deliveries, and a lack of visibility for restaurant operators.
Suplyd’s digital expansion boosts Egypt’s restaurant operations
Suplyd’s CEO and founder, Gohar Said, highlighted the company’s growth: “Over the past four years, we’ve built Suplyd into a critical part of Egypt’s restaurant ecosystem. We didn’t just witness the industry’s digital transformation. We helped lead it.”
The platform streamlines procurement by allowing restaurants to order everything from ingredients to kitchen supplies through a single dashboard.
Furthermore, Suplyd offers real-time analytics, inventory management, and delivery tracking tools, helping restaurants cut waste and reduce costs.
The new funding round, led by 4DX Ventures, Camel Ventures, and Plus VC, along with participation from Seedstars and existing investors, will enable Suplyd to develop new service verticals and enhance backend operations for restaurants.
This move aims to transition Suplyd from a procurement platform to a full-stack restaurant operating system, addressing the needs of Egypt’s sizable $10 billion HORECA (hotels, restaurants, cafés) sector.
Investors See Suplyd as a Key Player in Egypt’s F&B Technology
Peter Orth, Partner at 4DX Ventures, commented on Suplyd’s potential: “Suplyd’s digital procurement platform serves the long tail of restaurants that are often overlooked. Their early traction, strong supplier relationships, and diversified revenue streams reinforced our conviction.”
Hasan Haider, Founder and Managing Partner at Plus VC, added, “Suplyd has become a key enabler in the digital transformation of Egypt’s F&B sector. Their strong traction reflects the team’s deep market insight and operational excellence.”
These endorsements reinforce Suplyd’s positioning as a crucial backbone for restaurant supply chains and operations across Egypt.
With the newly secured capital, Suplyd is set to expand its reach and capabilities.
It aims to digitise not only procurement but all aspects of restaurant operations, including logistics, payment processing, and inventory management.
This strategy responds to the fragmented and largely offline nature of Egypt’s HORECA market, providing operators with better control, transparency, and efficiency.
