The Jigjiga City Administration and Ethio Telecom on Saturday signed an agreement to carry out the Smart City project, the capital of Ethiopia’s Somali Region sometimes referred to as Somalie or Khatumo.

The agreement will improve industries like education, healthcare, agriculture, transportation, and tourism through the construction of cloud services, contact centres, data centres, high-capacity fibre lines, and associated digital infrastructure.

The Smart City project facilitates payments via Telebirr and offers state-of-the-art digital solutions to the city administration. It not only modernises the system but also improves city safety.
