On Monday, Ethio Telecom, the country’s top telecom and digital solutions provider, launched 5G services in Jimma City as part of its ongoing nationwide rollout.

Other Ethiopian cities with Ethio Telecom’s 5G network
Addis Ababa, Adama, Jigjiga, Dire Dawa, Harar, Bahir Dar, Hawassa, Wolaita Sodo, Hosaena, Arba Minch, Bishoftu, and now Jimma are among the twelve cities that the firm has extended 5G since establishing Ethiopia’s first 5G network in Addis Ababa in 2022.
With the launch in Jimma on Monday, Ethio Telecom is reaffirming its dedication to improving digital accessibility and empowering Ethiopia to fully utilise next-generation connections.

Jimma City now has access to the network, especially in the vicinity of the Jimma Zone Administration Office, the Ethio Telecom South West Regional Office, Ferenj Arada, the Central Hotel, the Haile Hotel and Stadium Area, the Dololo Hotel, the Firomsis Hospital, Central Merkato, Kochi, Jimma University, the Mizan and Boye neighbourhoods, and Ferenj Arada.

Ethio Telecom’s 5G network supports up to 1 million devices per square kilometre and offers ultra-low latency as low as 1 millisecond along with speeds of up to 10 Gbps.
