When the Federation of Data and Technology Council (FEDTC) was founded in 2018, it wasn’t announced with much fanfare. But two years on, its presence is becoming hard to ignore.

From its base of operations, FEDTC has been steadily running workshops, organizing trainings, and bringing together some of the top minds in data and technology to prepare the next generation for what its founding president, Osasenaga Usoh, has always called “the future that’s already here.”

That future, as Usoh sees it, is one where technology will define every major decision across government, education, business, and everyday life. And FEDTC, under his leadership, was built to meet that moment.

In just 24 months, the council has facilitated learning sessions across multiple tech disciplines data systems, digital tools, software development, enterprise platforms, and cybersecurity led by seasoned experts with local and international experience. But beyond just teaching tools, FEDTC is building a mindset: one with excellence, structure, and readiness.

The idea wasn’t just to give young people a place to learn; it was to give them a space to grow. Through virtual sessions, group mentoring, and cross-regional collaboration, FEDTC has become a hub where talent is shaped, not just exposed.

Usoh’s goal from day one was to build something different. Not a tech club. Not a hype machine. But a council could raise standards, set expectations, and create a community of professionals who understand both the skill and responsibility that come with working in tech.

Today, the council continues to grow steadily. It hasn’t chased trends or tried to go viral. Instead, it has stayed focused on its core mission: helping people build real careers, real solutions, and real impact through data and technology.

Usoh’s message has remained consistent from the start: this space data, technology, and systems thinking are where the world is headed. And Nigeria must be ready, not waiting.

And that’s what FEDTC is doing: quietly preparing a generation to lead, not follow.
