The largest fibre-to-the-home internet provider in Nigeria, FiberOne Broadband, announced plans to begin a nationwide infrastructure and customer experience upgrade program to provide homes and businesses with faster, more dependable broadband.
According to a statement from the operator, the program will prioritise two areas: technical advancements and improvements to customer service.
It will implement XGSPON fibre technology to increase network speed, dependability, and scalability. At the same time, it will prepare its system for new demands, such as cloud-based services, smart homes, enterprise connectivity, and streaming ultra-high-definition video.
FiberOne to launch digital self-service platforms
The business intends to launch proactive support systems, digital self-service platforms, and improved service packages for its clientele. These will include a new loyalty rewards program, enhanced communication channels, and tools that give subscribers greater control over their accounts.
“This upgrade is about preparing our customers for the future of digital connectivity,” Chief Executive Officer of FiberOne Broadband Lanre Ore stated.
The project will be implemented in stages over the next 15 months and is expected to be finished by October 2026.
The company called it a significant milestone. It occurs as the Nigerian government steps up its efforts to boost the growth of the digital economy and increase broadband penetration from its current level of roughly 48%.
“We are not only strengthening our last-mile fibre infrastructure but also transforming the overall customer experience, ensuring our users enjoy the fastest, most reliable internet in Nigeria with world-class service support,” he noted.
FiberOne’s commitment to providing world-class broadband services
According to the executive, FiberOne’s long-term commitment to providing “world-class broadband services” that satisfy the changing needs of Nigerian households and businesses is reflected in the combination of technical advancements and customer-focused enhancements.
The rollout will start in Lagos, Fiberone’s biggest market, before moving to Abuja, Port Harcourt, and other significant cities. To minimise disruption and guarantee a seamless transition, the company stated that customers will be notified beforehand as each upgrade stage reaches their location.
FiberOne’s significant milestone in Nigeria
Since its establishment in 2018, the service provider has expanded to become the largest residential fibre provider in the nation, serving over 38,000 active customers in major cities.
Investments from both local and foreign providers in Nigeria’s fragmented broadband market have increased dramatically.
According to analysts, as demand for high-capacity connections to support streaming, remote work, and cloud-based services increases, providers are vying for customers’ and small businesses’ business.
In addition to bolstering Nigeria’s broadband ecosystem and assisting the nation’s digital future, the company said the new upgrade reaffirms its commitment to providing “future-ready” broadband solutions that power homes, businesses, and communities.
