My Afya Shield to boost digital integration for seamless access

Underwritten by Fidelity Shield Insurance, My Afya Shield is available through a user-friendly digital platform that connects members with a nationwide network of healthcare providers. The platform allows users to initiate treatments, monitor benefits and limits in real time, and easily locate and access care. Additionally, members can add family members as dependents, ensuring comprehensive coverage for their loved ones.

The digital interface of My Afya Shield facilitates efficient claims processing and timely payments to healthcare providers, enhancing the overall healthcare experience. This streamlined approach reduces the administrative burden on both patients and providers, ensuring swift and hassle-free access to necessary treatments.

Integration with M-TIBA for enhanced accessibility

My Afya Shield integrates seamlessly with M-TIBA, a mobile wallet developed by partners, including Safaricom, Kenya’s largest telecom operator. M-TIBA allows users to allocate funds specifically for healthcare, providing an added layer of financial security and accessibility. This integration ensures that Fidelity members and their dependents can maximise their health benefits efficiently.

Richard Marisin, Managing Director of Fidelity Shield Insurance, expressed his enthusiasm about the launch, stating, “We are happy to introduce My Afya Shield as a health coverage product designed to address the evolving needs of our members.

The plan includes traditionally uninsured benefits such as vaccinations, mental health services, counselling, and rehabilitation.

With the introduction of My Afya Shield, Fidelity Shield Insurance is set to transform healthcare access in Kenya, ensuring that preventive care and wellness are prioritised for its members.

This pioneering health coverage product is poised to make a significant impact on the healthcare landscape, providing essential services to a broader population.
