The Federal Government of Nigeria on Thursday announced the launch of a free Artificial Intelligence (AI) Academy to empower citizens with essential AI skills. 

Uche Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, emphasised that this initiative aims to position Nigeria as a leader in the global digital economy. The program is a collaboration with the Commonwealth Secretariat and Intel Corporation.

Transformative opportunity for Nigerians

Nnaji described the academy as more than just a training platform; it’s a transformative opportunity for students, youths, and civil servants. 

He stated, “The AI Academy is free, and registration is open until January 30, 2025.” Participants will have access to self-paced online courses covering AI fundamentals, ethics, and practical applications. 

This initiative enhances individual skills and fosters innovation across various sectors, such as agriculture and healthcare.
