“Our partnership has been built on mutual trust and shared goals, and the acquisition aligns perfectly with our long-term strategy of strengthening and expanding Frogfoot’s network capabilities,” Chorley stated.

The acquisition includes over 11,000 km of fibre optic cabling across South Africa. This substantial addition will enhance Frogfoot’s ability to provide seamless connectivity to businesses and homes.

ATC is a prominent provider of wireless infrastructure solutions in South Africa, operating more than 2,600 tower sites. The company supports various operators by enabling network deployment for wireless Internet service providers (WISPs) and rural operators.

Market context: Growing demand for fibre connectivity

The fibre market in South Africa is experiencing steady growth. According to recent reports by Africa Analysis, the fibre-to-the-business (FTTB) market reached over 243,000 active links by September 2023. This represents a year-on-year growth rate of 6.4 per cent.

Small businesses adopting cloud services and SD-WAN technologies drive the increasing demand for fibre connectivity. As companies seek faster internet speeds, this uptick in interest reflects post-COVID-19 recovery efforts.

Frogfoot’s strategic move aligns with the growing demand for reliable internet services across different sectors in South Africa. With its expanded network capabilities following this acquisition, Frogfoot aims to deliver superior service quality while maintaining continuity for existing customers without changing their current services.
