The 4th Ghana Fintech Awards celebrated the best in the country’s digital finance industry, with 19 institutions and five individuals recognised for their outstanding contributions. Organised by the Ghana Fintech and Payments Association (GFPA) in collaboration with Arkel Limited, the event showcased innovation, compliance, and strategic partnerships driving Ghana’s fintech landscape forward.

At the top of the winners’ list was eTranzact Ghana Limited, which secured the coveted Fintech Company of the Year award along with the Leading Payments Technologies Service Provider accolade. However, First Atlantic Bank (FAB) emerged as the most decorated institution, claiming five awards, including Digital Bank of the Year, Mobile Banking App of the Year, Banking Innovative Product of the Year (SME/Corporate), and the Fintech & Bank Partnership of the Year in collaboration with MTN MoMo and Tarya. FAB’s Chief Technical Officer, Franklin Johnson Gbedzi, also received the prestigious Fintech CTO/CIO of the Year award.

Among fintech start-ups, Brij Fintech Ghana Limited stood out, winning three awards, including the highly sought-after Fintech Platform of the Year for its BrijX solution. Brij also shared the Fintech & Non-Bank Partnership of the Year with MTN MoMo and G-Money, and its team member Beatrice Bota was named Fintech Personality of the Year (Female).

Other notable winners included CalBank, which earned the ESG Bank of the Year and Fintech Personality of the Year (Male) for Edem Q. Dzorkpata, and Affinity, recognised as the Fintech for Financial Inclusion leader. Ladder Technology Systems GH Ltd was honoured as the Fintech Start-Up of the Year, while IT Consortium was celebrated as the Long-Standing Fintech Company of the Year.

In the spirit of honouring industry pioneers, the late Herman Kojo Chinery-Hesse was posthumously awarded the Lifetime Achievement for Digital Technology Innovation award, recognising his enduring legacy in Africa’s tech landscape.

The Ghana Fintech Awards 2024 underscored the industry’s rapid evolution and the vital role of collaboration in fostering financial inclusion and innovation. With a focus on “Building Trust in Ghana’s Digital Economy: The Essential Role of Cybersecurity and Data Privacy,” the event highlighted the need for robust digital infrastructure and secure financial ecosystems.
