Onix Center in Ghana to join Angola Cables Global Network

CEO of Onix, Michael Nahon, said Onix’s carrier-neutral, colocation Tier IV data centre in Accra, Ghana, is set to join the Angola Cables Global Data Centre Interconnect network, a move that will significantly enhance international connectivity in Ghana and Senegal.

This integration provides customers with access to 66 additional data centres, 8 Over-the-tops (OTTs)/ Content delivery networks (CDNs), and 21 Internet exchange points (IXPs).

In his words, “Our intent has been to develop a reliable facility that can accommodate and deliver secure services to hyperscalers and carriers supporting terrestrial networks as well as existing and new subsea cables planned for the region.”

Empowering Businesses with Secure Digital Solutions

Customers of Onix’s data centre will now benefit from a comprehensive range of secure digital solutions and managed services through these state-of-the-art facilities. This initiative aligns with Onix’s commitment to building a dense ecosystem of partners.

Sustainable and Resilient Infrastructure

Ensuring uninterrupted power supply is a top priority for Onix, with 67% of its energy requirements currently generated through solar-powered technology. Nahon highlighted the capacity to increase this reliance on renewable energy as the facility expands in the future. The 2000 m2 facility has been meticulously designed to meet the growing demands of businesses in Ghana and the broader region.

The data centre already hosts primary banking and financial clients, offering flexible services to the business and corporate sectors. It guarantees maximum uptime and reliability, featuring 170, 3kW, and 5kW racks, along with a pod of 50 racks available for individual clients looking to share infrastructure and reduce costs.
