Telecommunications provider Globacom is partnering with the Ondo State government to implement digital solutions that will increase efficiency and productivity.
At a strategic meeting in Akure, Globacom’s Group Lead, Enterprise Business, Mr. Adeniyi Odejobi, presented the company’s offerings to Ondo State Governor, Mr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and other state officials.
Under the partnership, Glo will provide several digital services to the state, including a Learning Management System that will support students in secondary and tertiary institutions.
Glo Share, through which students will have zero–rated access to the LMS, will allow them to learn online with free data.
The Glo’s sponsored data service will also provide free access to Ondo’s digital payment platform, enabling citizens to pay taxes and other fees without using their data.
The collaboration will also include a Glo surveillance solution that uses facial biometrics and a Traffic Management Solution to help reduce crime. Additionally, Glo will assist the state in tracking official vehicles to prevent theft and misuse.
Globacom will offer free closed-user group lines to public servants, ensuring effective and free communication across all government ministries, departments, and agencies.
Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating that his administration is eager to use these solutions to improve governance.
He believed the collaboration would enhance digital innovation, improve governance, and promote socio-economic development in the state.
He emphasised that adopting new technologies from Globacom will help reduce bureaucracy, increase efficiency, and limit human interference in government processes.
Governor Aiyedatiwa also commended Globacom for its long-standing role in revolutionising Nigeria’s telecommunications industry, making mobile telephony accessible to millions of Nigerians.
