Googles profits fall short as YouTube income declines.

Alphabet (GOOGL), Google's parent company, posted March-quarter profits and sales that fell short of Wall Street expectations. GOOGL shares dipped after YouTube advertising growth fell short of forecasts, owing to increased competition from TikTok.

After the market closed on Tuesday, Alphabet reported first-quarter profits of $24.62 per share. Google announced a $1.07 billion loss on stock investments, which reduced earnings by 99 cents per share.

Google's profits Since The Beginning Of The Year

In the first three months of this year, Google made $68.01 billion, up 23% from the same time last year. It represents a decrease from 34% growth in the first quarter of 2021 when the economy recovered from the COVID-19 epidemic.

Analysts predicted that YouTube's ad income would surpass their forecasts for the quarter. The video site gained the most from the epidemic while people were mainly at home on their smartphones. TikTok is capturing a growing part of the social media video market; this is a squandered opportunity.

Investors decreased their exposure as Alphabet, Google's parent firm, saw its shares fall 18 per cent year to date as of Tuesday's closing. Alphabet shares dropped after hours to their lowest level since May 20, 2021
