Hassan Jaber gets appointment as new CEO of AXIAN Telecom

A week after announcing his exit as the Chief Operating Officer of MTN Nigeria, Hassan Jaber has been appointed as the new CEO of AXIAN Telecom, replacing Stéphane Oudin.

Hassan Jaber will take over as CEO on August 19, 2024, from Stéphane Oudin, who will now serve as a board member and advisor to the chairman of AXIAN Telecom’s operating companies. Stéphane will continue to assist AXIAN’s outstanding expansion and improve the governance of the Group and its operational companies.

“We are excited to announce the appointment of Hassan Jaber as our new Chief Executive Officer. Hassan brings over 29 years of experience in the telecom and digital sectors and – with a proven track record of driving innovation, growth, and operational excellence – he is well-equipped to lead AXIAN Telecom into the next phase of its journey.” Axian Telecom stated.

New CEO accepts appointment with enthusiasm 

Hassan Jaber commented on his new role as CEO of AXIAN Telecom, “I am excited for this new chapter and eager to leverage my extensive knowledge and experience to elevate AXIAN Telecom to new heights.

“I commend Stéphane for his exceptional work in building a successful business over the years. I look forward to furthering this trajectory and forging a strong working relationship with the entire AXIAN Telecom team.”

Hassan will oversee the telecom operations group of companies, providing strategic direction, cultivating an excellence culture, and generating value for stakeholders and customers. He has 29 years of expertise in the telecom and digital sectors.

He will collaborate closely with the skilled teams at AXIAN Telecom in all of its markets to ensure they continue to do an excellent job and accomplish the group’s goals.

Outgoing CEO’s comments on Hassan Jaber

While commenting on Hassan Jaber’s appointment, the outgoing CEO stated, “With a proven track record of driving innovation, fostering growth, and achieving operational excellence, I am confident that Hassan is exceptionally equipped to lead Axian Telecom into its next transformative phase.

“I would also like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the AXIAN Telecom teams for an incredible 7 years and for unwaveringly supporting my vision for the business. Our successes were only possible with your dedication and support. I eagerly look forward to continuing to support the growth of AXIAN Telecom in my new role.”

Stéphane Oudin given new role 

The company expressed its gratitude to Stéphane Oudin, the outgoing CEO.

“We want to express our deep gratitude to Stéphane Oudin, whose leadership as CEO played a pivotal role in transforming and growing AXIAN Telecom. His ability to inspire trust and build a talented team was critical to our success, setting the stage for our ambitions and a lasting impact on our journey.

Stéphane will transition to the role of Advisor to the Chairman and Board Member of AXIAN Telecom’s Operating Companies.” the company stated.

AXIAN Telecom Board chairman’s remark

While making remarks on the company’s new development, Hassanein Hiridjee, Chairman of AXIAN Telecom Board, said, “I am thrilled to welcome Hassan to AXIAN Telecom. I am confident that the AXIAN Telecom Group will achieve new milestones under his leadership, continue spearheading digital and financial inclusion in Africa, and adeptly navigate evolving market demands and technological advancements.

“I would like to take this opportunity to express my profound gratitude to Stéphane Oudin, whose tenure as CEO was instrumental to the transformation, digitalisation, and growth of AXIAN Telecom.

“His leadership inspired trust and credibility among external stakeholders. He built a skilled team that achieved exceptional results and laid the groundwork for our 2025 vision, making significant contributions throughout the journey. A big thank you to Stéphane and a warm welcome to Hassan.”, Hiridjee concluded.

About Hassan Jaber 

Hassan held several executive leadership roles with the MTN Group, concentrating on Africa and the Middle East, before joining AXIAN Telecom. He held CEO positions in Guinea, Sudan, and Afghanistan before most recently joining MTN Nigeria as COO.

Hassan graduated from Saint Joseph University in Beirut with a bachelor’s degree in business computers and from HEC Business School in Paris with an executive master’s degree in business administration (EMBA). He also graduated from INSEAD, Paris’s International Executive Program.
