The 10th Annual Healthcare Innovation Summit Africa (HISA 2025) will be held on 22–23 October 2025 at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa.
It will bring together policymakers, hospital executives, entrepreneurs, investors, and healthtech startups. Organised by IT News Africa, the summit is themed “Real solutions. Real systems. Real scale” and will spotlight how technologies such as AI, IoT, and telemedicine reshape healthcare delivery across the continent.
Driving digital transformation in African healthcare
Africa faces pressing healthcare challenges, from under-resourced hospitals to limited access in rural areas. HISA 2025 aims to address these gaps by showcasing practical, tech-driven solutions.
The agenda highlights include sessions on AI-powered diagnostics, IoT patient monitoring, and digital transformation strategies on Day 1, followed by Day 2 workshops exploring cybersecurity in healthtech, telemedicine adoption, and case studies from leading African innovators.
This year’s edition speakers include thought leaders such as Dr Richard Friedland, Group CEO of Netcare; Dr Boris Konrad, neuroscientist and Guinness World Record holder from Radboudumc, Germany; Andrew Raynes, CIO of Royal Papworth Hospital in the UK; and Taryn Lotz, Head of IT at Aspen Pharma Group. Their participation underscores the summit’s global outlook while remaining grounded in Africa’s unique healthcare needs.
Networking, partnerships, and the innovation showcase
Beyond the sessions, HISA 2025 offers extensive networking opportunities, bringing together more than 300 delegates, including decision-makers from public and private hospitals, pharmaceutical firms, government agencies, and insurance providers. The Innovation Showcase will spotlight startups and emerging solutions redefining access, efficiency, and patient outcomes.
This year’s focus is not on theory but on real-world implementation. Delegates can expect to explore scalable healthcare models and learn how to secure investment or forge partnerships that can accelerate digital health adoption across the continent. Previous editions have featured top technology players such as IBM and Microsoft, and similar big names are expected this year.
Registration
More so, registration is currently open via the official event site or Quicket, though organisers note that delegate passes will not be available at the door. Early bird registration closed in July, but standard tickets remain accessible, with options for sponsorships and group rates.
HISA 2025 comes at a time when Africa is seeing a wave of healthtech events, including the Africa HealthTech Summit 2025 in Kigali and the Healthcare Entrepreneurship Exchange Summit 2025, reflecting the growing urgency to build resilient, technology-enabled healthcare systems. Yet HISA stands out for its longevity and focus on solutions that can scale continent-wide.
As Africa continues its journey towards Universal Health Coverage (UHC), the Healthcare Innovation Summit Africa 2025 provides a vital platform for advancing the conversation from ideas to action. With its blend of top-level discussions, case studies, and exhibitions, this Johannesburg gathering promises to shape the future of healthcare across the region.
