The Higherlife Foundation has announced the opening of applications for the prestigious Joshua Nkomo Scholarship, aiming to attract Africa’s brightest minds in STEM fields.

The foundation promotes STEM education across the continent with this program. After the announcement on March 2, the application deadline was March 31, 2025.

Joshua Nkomo scholarship: open to African undergraduates

The Joshua Nkomo Scholarship is available to undergraduate students in Zimbabwe and non-Zimbabwean applicants from other African countries.

Candidates must be under 21 and attending Zimbabwean universities for their first year of undergraduate studies.

The scholarship focuses primarily on STEM disciplines, with 70 percent of the awards allocated to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics studies and 30 per cent reserved for other disciplines.

Candidates must submit a character reference form, a birth certificate, a national ID, public exam results, and academic certificates to apply. The character reference form should be sent to the Higherlife Foundation Office in Harare via registered mail.

Joshua Nkomo Scholarship fuels STEM education growth in Africa
