World Record: Hilda Baci trends online over 96hr cooking attempt 

Multi-talented TV producer, actress, and entrepreneur, Hilda Effiong Bassey widely known as Hilda Baci is being praised and encouraged by thousands of social media users as she is attempting to break the Guinness World Record of longest cooking time by an individual.

Baci officially announced on April 2nd that she was planning to actualise her five-year-long dream of breaking the 87 hours, 45 minutes, set by Chef Lata London in Rewa, India in 2019. She explained via Instagram that she would cook for four days and four nights, making a total of 96 hours.

Initially, the record breaking event was slated to commence on Friday, April 28th but was unavoidably rescheduled by two weeks to the needs and requirements of the extra people who registered to be in attendance.

On Thursday, May 11th Baci began the cooking competition to the view of attendees who were there to cheer her on. As the days have gone by hundreds of individuals have been filling the venue of the event to capacity, while thousands of Nigerians have been showing support online with messages and also creating events around her, even outside Lagos.

Vice President, Lagos Governor Cheer Hilda Baci

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, Lagos state governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Presidential aspirant, Atiku Abubakar, have shown their support for the Akwa-Ibom indigene.

Vice President Osinbajo showed support for Baci via a phone call while Governor Sanwo-Olu surprised Baci and all cheering her with a visit to the venue to support her. 

The Governor tasted the meals and attested to the tastiness of her meal.

Akwa-Ibom government has reckoned with their own, applauding the 27-year-old foodpreneur for promoting the state’s local delicacies.

Celebrities, Public Figures, and Fellow Chefs Show Up For Hilda Baci

Many celebrities, including Nancy Isime, Ice Prince Zamani, MC Shaggy, Eni, former Big Brother housemates Alex, Thabang and Tsatsii, showed up to the record-breaking event to support Baci.

Fellow Chefs, including Chef T, Chef Ify, Chef Nrindioma, Sisi Yemmie and many others, have virtually and physically supported Hilda Baci.

Chef Nridioma, who is in Uyo, Akwa-Ibom organised an outdoor event alongside business owners in the state, to celebrate and pray for Baci.

Nigerians Twitter users from other parts of the country and the world are showing solidarity for Chef Baci using the topic ‘Rooting for Hilda Baci’. This topic has made it to Twitter’s trend list.

Hilda has cooked over 115 meals that have been served to over 3000 attendees at the venue in the last 85 hours of the Hilda Baci cook-a-thon.

With less than an hour to go, the excitement of Baci breaking the Guinness World Record of the longest cooking time by an individual is already in the air.

Hilda Bassey Effiong, popularly known as Hilda Baci, is a Nigerian chef and actor from Nsit Ubium LGA in Akwa Ibom State. She is 27 years old and owns a food brand in Lagos called My Food by Hilda.

Baci had disclosed that she became “infatuated with the world record” since childhood and would cook for 96 hours to break the Guinness World Record for longest cooking time by an individual.
