In a significant public debut at the ongoing World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai, Huawei Technologies unveiled CloudMatrix 384, a high-performance AI computing system that represents a daring challenge to Nvidia’s hegemony in cutting-edge AI hardware.
With 384 of Huawei’s in-house 910C chips integrated, the system has been hailed by analysts as a formidable rival to Nvidia’s GB200 NVL72 platform, which is generally considered to be the US chipmaker’s most sophisticated AI system to date.
According to a report published in April by Dylan Patel, the founder of SemiAnalysis, Huawei’s system capabilities now match and in some cases exceed those of Nvidia.
At WAIC, one of China’s leading AI conferences, CloudMatrix 384 attracted a lot of interest, but Huawei representatives refused to give any information at the booth.
Additionally, the business has not yet formally responded to questions from the media regarding the system.
SemiAnalysis claims that Huawei’s system-level design, rather than the superiority of individual chips, is responsible for the platform’s performance.
Any performance difference with Nvidia’s B200 chips used in the GB200 is compensated for by the CloudMatrix’s “supernode” architecture, which allows for incredibly quick interconnection between its chips.

What to know about the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC)
One of the most important AI conferences in the global tech, science, and industry ecosystem is the World Artificial Intelligence Conference, or WAIC for short. The 2025 edition is taking place between July 26 to July 29.
The most prominent scientists, businesspeople, government representatives, representatives of international organisations, investors, and startup teams in the field of artificial intelligence have come together for the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC), which has been successfully held in Shanghai for seven years running since 2018.
It has become a vital platform and showcase for global AI academic exchanges, industry collaboration, exhibition displays, and partnership negotiations.
The World Artificial Intelligence Conference will keep growing in size and participation in 2025. Through cooperative deliberation, co-construction, collaborative governance, and shared benefits, the event is dedicated to creating a more advanced and transparent international communication platform that emphasises cutting-edge subjects, communicates authoritative viewpoints, pools global expertise, stimulates creative ideas, and advances global AI development.
