The 2024 ICT for Africa Conference, themed “Digital Transformation: Current Trends and Future Insights,” will convene from July 15 to 20, 2024, in the vibrant city of Yaoundé, Cameroon. This landmark event, hosted by the esteemed ICT University, is set to be a melting pot of ideas, innovation, and strategic discussions aimed at propelling Africa’s technological landscape into the future.

The conference aims to accelerate Africa’s digital transformation by creating an ecosystem for visionaries, thought leaders, entrepreneurs, researchers, and tech enthusiasts to come together. The event’s agenda is intended to spark discussion, inspire action, and foster an environment conducive to digital empowerment across the continent.

Breakdown of 2024 ICT for Africa Conference

The conference will start with a VVIP Novelty Lawn Tennis Match and Breakfast at Hotel Mont Febe, followed by a welcome and social reception at the Hilton Hotel. This invite-only event will feature the Africa Growth and Development Dialogue, presidential honours, and a networking session with humour and entertainment, setting a collaborative tone for the days ahead.

Day two, the official opening ceremony at Hotel Mont Febe, includes guest arrivals, registration, and networking. Esteemed dignitaries will deliver keynote addresses, including President Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria, President Ameenah Gurib-Fakim of Mauritius, and President Paul Biya of Cameroon. Remarks from top government officials and special presentations will highlight the morning session. The afternoon will feature three pivotal panel discussions:

Youth and Women Leading the Digital Transformation – Exploring the role of young leaders and women in Africa’s digital revolution.

We are leveraging Social Media for Good – Discussing the positive impacts and strategies for harnessing social media.

Harnessing Artificial Intelligence for Africa’s Progress – Delving into AI’s role in driving development and innovation.

On day three, the keynote addresses will be by Mr Eric Chinje, a prominent media and communication expert and the President of the Cameroon National Youth Council; Ms Fadimatou Iyawa O. Lightning talks and a special presentation about the African Society for ICTs will immediately follow.

The afternoon sessions will showcase innovations from young tech pioneers and include practical workshops on coding, content creation, cybersecurity, data analytics, mobile app development, and career development.

Held at the ICT University Campus, day four features an academic keynote address on digital health approaches by Professor Randy Bradley and Dr. Walter Rayford from the University of Tennessee and the Transformative Development Corporation USA. Concurrent track sessions will cover ICT research, strategy and governance, e-agriculture, renewable energy, blockchain, fintech, and digital healthcare. An industry keynote on AI in healthcare by Mr Peter Ngum, Founder and CEO of CerebraNetics and Pan Africa AI Healthcare Initiative, will follow, along with virtual tracks and e-poster sessions. The day concludes with a panel discussion for doctoral and early career researchers and the presentation of awards for best paper, undergraduate student paper, and reviewer.

Day five includes a city tour and lunch for guests and VIPs, followed by a closing ceremony, dinner, and awards at Pa Mbarika’s Residence. This intimate celebration will commemorate the conference’s accomplishments and the collaborative efforts of all participants.

The final day marks the departure of attendees, bringing the conference to a close with a farewell and a commitment to continued efforts on collaboration and innovation.
