There is an ongoing wave of false claims on social media, especially Facebook, stating that the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) training allowance has been released.

Posts carrying phrases like “TVET training allowance has been released!” and “TVET: training allowance is given” are being widely shared.

However, checks show that neither the Federal Ministry of Education (FME) nor the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has made any official statement regarding payment to trainees or trainers.

No applicant has received or confirmed any payment from TVET at this time. None of those spreading the claims have provided proof of payment, such as a screenshot, relying instead on misleading posts to increase engagement.

Authorities have warned that such misinformation could expose unsuspecting applicants to scams.

Applicants should wait for an official announcement from the federal government before believing any payment news.

The list of accredited trainers was recently released, which indicates that preparations for the program are ongoing.

The federal government cannot begin payment until the list of shortlisted candidates for TVET training has been released.

Data from the NBTE shows that over 1.3 million applications were received for the program, but the target is to train about 900,000 people. Between 500,000 and 900,000 applicants will eventually be selected for hands-on training, meaning the final number could be lower than 900,000.

Applicants should be patient and rely only on verified updates from the program. The next steps will involve releasing the shortlist and posting selected candidates to their nearest training centers.

Applicants are encouraged to stay alert, as fake news can easily mislead and cause financial or personal harm.

The public is advised to ignore unverified payment claims and focus on official communication channels for accurate information about the TVET training allowance and program schedule.
