Design, build and performance of the Infinix Hot 50 Pro

The Infinix Hot 50 Pro showcases a sleek design, making it one of the slimmest in its category. With dimensions of 8.3mm in thickness and a weight of 188g, the Infinix phone feels light and easy to manage. Its 6.78-inch AMOLED display brings vivid colours to life and supports a 120Hz refresh rate for fluid interaction. Gorilla Glass offers protection, ensuring the Infinix Hot 50 Pro can withstand daily wear and tear. The back panel comes in various finishes, including a unique vegan leather option, adding a touch of elegance.

Powered by the MediaTek Helio G100, the Infinix Hot 50 Pro ensures smooth performance, whether multitasking or gaming. With 8GB of RAM and storage options ranging from 128GB to 256GB of UFS 2.2, the Infinix device keeps pace with the demands of modern apps and games.

Camera – Infinix Hot 50 Pro

Though it’s not functionally significant, the Infinix Hot 50 Pro’s camera system includes a 50MP primary camera, a 2MP depth sensor, and an additional sensor for aesthetic balance. The primary camera delivers decent photo quality in good lighting and uses pixel-binning technology to improve detail. The front 13MP camera is adequate for selfies but we can’t recommend it for pictures in dimly lit spaces. Its low-light performance leaves room for improvement.

Battery and charging – Infinix Hot 50 Pro

With a 5000mAh battery, the Infinix Hot 50 Pro promises all-day battery life under normal to heavy usage. It supports 33W fast charging, which is convenient for quickly replenishing power, although faster charging options would have been welcome.

Software – Infinix

The Infinix Hot 50 Pro runs on Android 14 with Infinix’s XOS 14.5 overlay, offering a customisable yet familiar interface. However, the presence of bloatware might not appeal to everyone. The commitment to one major OS update might be a consideration for those looking for long-term software support.

Connectivity and additional features

While the Infinix Hot 50 Pro supports 4G LTE, it lacks 5G connectivity, which could be a consideration for future-proofing. For modern connectivity, it includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.3, and a USB-C port. Additional features like JBL-tuned stereo speakers, an always-on display, and an under-display fingerprint sensor enhance the user experience.

Price and availability – Infinix Hot 50 Pro

The Infinix Hot 50 Pro is competitively priced at around $245 and aims to deliver value without compromising features. Although availability might vary, it’s primarily seen in regions like Africa, South America, and South Asia.

The Infinix Hot 50 Pro is commendable for those seeking a stylish, functional smartphone on a budget. Its design, display, and battery life are highlights, though the lack of 5G and limited software updates might be cons to consider. If you’re looking for a budget device from Infinix that doesn’t skimp on aesthetics or performance, the Infinix Hot 50 Pro could be the perfect match.
