A new home for Nollywood storytelling

Kava, a subscription-based streaming service, promises to transform how African stories reach audiences worldwide. Chinaza Onuzo, co-CEO of Kava and head of Inkblot Studios, said, “KAVA is where cutting-edge technology meets cultural storytelling.

Industry giants powering Kava’s launch

Kava is backed by some of Nigeria’s most prominent industry names. Inkblot Studios, known for landmark streaming deals with international platforms, and Filmhouse Group, West Africa’s largest cinema chain with extensive distribution and production capability, collaborate to create a sustainable digital ecosystem for African cinema.

Kene Okwuosa, co-CEO and head of Filmhouse Group, highlighted that Kava is “more than a platform – an ecosystem for African content, focusing on underserved global demand. We’re not just streaming films – we’re building the digital infrastructure for the future of African cinema.”

He spoke passionately about allowing African audiences to see their language, humor, struggles, and triumphs authentically represented.

At launch, Kava’s library includes titles such as Alakada Bad and Boujee, Owambe Thieves starring Zubby Michael and Odunlade Adekola, What About Us, and House Job featuring Erica Nlewedim. The platform will support emerging and established creators, offering transparent and fair commercial opportunities.

This August, Kava aims to raise the bar for African digital content by bringing Nollywood stories to audiences everywhere they are eagerly sought.
