An innovative partnership has been formed between IoTDC, a well-known provider of IoT solutions, and Davra, a renowned pioneer in industrial IoT software.

The partnership seeks to introduce a state-of-the-art collection of software tools for thorough safety monitoring of mining operations.

By rigorously upholding the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM), this historic endeavour builds on Davra’s prior work with the European Space Agency (ESA) on the Protelum project.

An essential part of contemporary mining operations for risk management, the cutting-edge software package focuses on real-time monitoring and administration of Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs).

The software provides early detection of abnormalities and potential risks by utilising cutting-edge sensors, predictive analytics, machine learning algorithms, and Earth Observation (EO) data from the European Copernicus programme and other sources.

This improves mining companies’ operating effectiveness and safety.

By linking mining operators with global standards for tailings management safety and integrity, the suite ensures GISTM compliance.

Important traits and advantages include

Real-time Tailings Monitoring: To deliver real-time insights on tailings dam stability, the software suite uses EO data from the Sentinel satellite constellation and IoT devices. This makes it possible to identify potential issues quickly and take action.

Machine learning and Predictive Analytics: By examining behavioural trends and patterns in tailing dam operations, the software uses AI to detect and avoid probable problems.

The suite helps mining companies achieve strict GISTM compliance, assuring the highest level of safety and integrity in tailings management.

Enhanced Operational Efficiency: Mining operations may considerably increase production, decrease downtime, and minimise environmental impact through continuous monitoring and AI-powered analytics.

During the Irish Tánaiste’s visit to Wits University, Paul Glynn, CEO of Davra, expressed excitement about the collaboration with IoTDC.

Paul Glynn said they are providing mining operators throughout South Africa with an unmatched tool to manage and monitor their tailings storage facilities by combining their ongoing engagement with ESA on the Protelum project and our cutting-edge IoT technology.

CEO of IoTDC Ewald Fourie explained that “This partnership with Davra brings together our regional expertise in the mining sector and their extensive experience in IoT and satellite data to provide a cutting-edge solution. We’re certain that this technology will raise the bar for sustainability and safety in the mining industry.
