Mahmoud Sofrata has been appointed as the Vice President for ICT Markets Development at Egypt’s Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) by Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology.
Sofrata has 25 years of worldwide ICT and digital transformation expertise working with Honeywell, Hewlett-Packard, and IBM throughout the Middle East, Africa, Central Asia, Russia, and Turkey. His appointment is crucial to Egypt’s plan to become a worldwide digital services and IT outsourcing hub.

Sofrata’s record reflects leadership in digital innovation, business development, and strategic transformation. At Honeywell International in Dubai, he spearheaded IoT-enabled safety platforms for critical sectors like oil and gas, boosting industrial localisation efforts across the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
His projects also include pioneering digital transformation in education through the Digital Classrooms initiative and advancing enterprise technology solutions with Device-as-a-Service (DaaS) programs. His career is marked by empowering talent, promoting gender diversity in tech leadership, and expanding IT markets in emerging regions.
