The data centre is powered by Schneider Electric’s MV and LV switchgear, ensuring stable and reliable cloud services.

According to Snehar Shah, CEO of iXAfrica, “Kenya offers a stable regulatory and political environment, and a strong economy forecast to grow 5.2 per cent in 2024,” making it a hyper-cloud-ready region.

During a tour of the new facility, John Mwendwa, CEO of the Kenya Investment Authority (KenInvest), highlighted iX Africa’s contribution to strengthening Kenya’s data sovereignty, accelerating digital transformation, and driving cloud adoption.

Mwendwa remarked, “Kenya is on the brink of a digital revolution, and investments like iX Africa’s hyperscale data centre are pivotal in positioning the country as a premier technology and innovation hub.”

This investment aligns with Kenya’s robust digital economy, which boasts over 51 million internet subscriptions and 100 per cent mobile penetration.

iX Africa is also expanding its footprint in Nairobi by acquiring 11 acres of land for a second data centre campus, which is expected to be over 30MW.

Guy Willner, Chairman of iXAfrica, highlighted the new campus’s strategic advantages, including reliable power and water supply, which will provide an ideal environment for data centre operations.
