Jumia, Africa’s leading e-commerce platform, officially opened its largest integrated warehouse in Egypt on June 30. This state-of-the-art facility, located on Cairo’s Suez Road, covers over 27,000 square meters and aims to transform logistics, create thousands of jobs, and accelerate Egypt’s digital economy.

Boosting logistics efficiency across Egypt

The new warehouse is designed to significantly enhance storage and distribution capabilities, especially targeting underserved regions like Upper Egypt. Innovative management and storage systems enable faster order processing and improved delivery times.

According to Abdellatif Olama, CEO of Jumia Egypt, “This new facility not only improves how we serve millions of customers and sellers across the country but also strengthens our support for local manufacturers, drives job creation, and advances Egypt’s digital economy.”

The strategic location and large capacity allow the warehouse to handle thousands of products across various categories, making it a crucial hub for Jumia’s pan-African operations. This expansion complements Jumia’s broader infrastructure growth, following the launch of a similar warehouse in Ivory Coast earlier in 2025.

Creating jobs and supporting Egypt’s digital economy

Egypt’s Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Communications Dr. Amr Talaat, and Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber attended the inauguration ceremony, underscoring the government’s support for Jumia’s investment.

Prime Minister Madbouly praised Jumia’s role in driving youth employment and digital transformation, stating that the company’s commitment “advances Egypt’s infrastructure development and supports the digital economy.”

The warehouse is expected to generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs, contributing to economic growth and providing opportunities for local communities. Jumia operates across nine African countries, connecting approximately 70,000 sellers with customers, and this new facility strengthens its position as a major tech and logistics hub in Egypt and the region.

Jumia’s CEO, Abdellatif Olama, emphasised that the facility is not just a warehouse but a “launchpad for innovation and growth” that will help the company improve customer service and foster technological advancements across Africa. This investment highlights Egypt’s growing importance as a centre for digital and logistics solutions on the continent.

The new warehouse marks a pivotal step in Jumia’s strategy to optimise operations, reduce delivery times, and expand its reach to more customers. This will support the company’s vision of becoming a continent-wide e-commerce platform.

Overall, Jumia’s latest investment in Egypt is a bold move to enhance logistics infrastructure, create employment, and boost the digital economy, positioning the country as a key player in Africa’s e-commerce growth.
