It’s essential to get things done quickly these days, even if they’re just basic things like food shopping. When there are queues at the register, it can be hard to wait our turn. For a small fee, what if you could skip the queues altogether?

TechStars-backed Jump n Pass aims to solve the age-old problem of shopping lines. Customers may scan a QR code to browse the store’s inventory, scan product barcodes, and pay with their phones using the startup’s mobile self-checkout platform.

Using Jump n Pass would make checkout 90% faster’, said co-founder and CEO Tunde Ademuyiwa. The company charges a convenience fee of ₦50 to ₦100 depending on the total shopping amount.

Studies demonstrate that customers may abandon their carts if the wait time is too long. Long lines frustrate shoppers and store owners.

“Increasing store flexibility means more sales for retailers,” Ademuyiwa says.

What Makes Jump n Pass the Ideal Solution for Shopping Queues?

Though straightforward, the idea is clever. The Jump n Pass app, which easily links with partnering stores, is available for customers to download. They can altogether avoid the traditional checkout process by using the app to scan their products, make their payment electronically, and head straight to the exit when they’re ready to check out—all without having to wait in line.

However, fairness and equity concerns? To address this, Jump n Pass ensures that all customers, regardless of socioeconomic background, can use the service. The range fee is between ₦50 and ₦100. The charge is kept reasonable so that everyone may access the service and benefit from it.

On X, client Ucha described her Justrite Bariga purchasing experience. She arrived to find a queue, but the staff encouraged clients to use Jump n Pass.

The process was swift and user-friendly, subject to a convenience fee of ₦100. Web-only, the startup has not released an iOS or Android app. Within 30 days, the mobile app will be on Android Play Store and iOS App Store, said Ademuyiwa.

According to Ademuyiwa, the business partners with payment solution providers and banks to facilitate in-app payments.

Furthermore, Jump n Pass offers significant benefits to shops and consumers. As customers spend less time waiting and more time looking, retailers can increase efficiency, improve the entire shopping experience, and possibly increase sales by reducing congestion at the checkout counters.

Additionally, because Jump n Pass gives retailers a share of the charge received with every transaction, it creates additional revenue sources for them. It encourages more retailers to use the platform, increasing its effect and reach even more.

Introducing a new revolutionised shopping experience with Jump n Pass

Jump n Pass was introduced in November 2023 and has since started to expand its offerings. In addition to collaborating with Justrite Limited, a prominent Nigerian grocery chain with 26 locations, it plans to incorporate its platform into additional significant supermarket chains.

“Integration is complicated yet necessary. Ademuyiwa stated, “We are already processing a few supermarkets. Operations have started in a few stores, including Madina Supermarket, Supersaver Supermarket, and several Justrite branches.

Regarding security and privacy, Jump n Pass takes these concerns seriously. The software protects users’ personal information and payment details with robust encryption techniques, guaranteeing a secure and safe purchasing experience.

Jump n Pass is at the forefront of innovation, changing the retail environment one queue at a time as society embraces technology-driven solutions. Increasing numbers of consumers opt to skip the queue using Jump n Pass due to its cost-effective, time-saving, and easy shopping method.
