Adult Swim and Production I.G, which worked on *Ghost in the Shell*, co-produced the adaptation. The COVID-19 pandemic delayed the 2020 Toonami anime release. The release was delayed to October 2022 and June 2022 without a new date.

The anime’s official Twitter account stated that more time was needed to recreate Uzumaki’s meticulous designs and line work accurately. The production crew stated, “As much as we’d like to deliver this show to the public as soon as possible, we don’t want to compromise its quality by delivering a mediocre final product. We are devoted to completing this assignment well. We’ll announce a debut date once we’re sure this adaptation is great.”

Anticipation and fan reactions of Uzumaki

Many are eagerly awaiting the announcement. The long-awaited anime will finally air, and fans are overjoyed on social media. The Uzumaki Anime Twitter account expressed excitement: “We’re pleased to show you this after a busy year! Enjoy!”

In Uzumaki, high school girl Kirie Goshima discovers a spiral pattern in her neighbourhood. The townspeople fixate on this spiral pattern, resulting in increasingly terrible deaths. The animation, produced by Production I.G., strives to replicate Ito’s manga’s spooky and unpleasant mood with a visually striking and realistic adaptation.
