The Transform Africa Summit 2024 will be held in Kenya in August 2024.  Kenya was chosen to host the summit organised by the Smart Africa Alliance, a pan-African organisation for information and communication technology, in February 2024.

The country’s prominence as a leader in Africa’s digital revolution was further cemented when it won the bid to host the event.

Why Kenya got the bid to hold Transform Africa Summit 2024

The news was announced in February at the 2024 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. With dates set for August 28th through the 30th, 2024, Nairobi will host this pivotal event organised by the Smart Africa Alliance, a pan-African ICT (Information and Communication Technology) agency.

The victory is evidence of Kenya’s rising status as an ICT superpower. There has been a lot of progress in the country regarding mobile penetration, financial technology innovation, and creating a thriving tech startup scene. Having TAS-2024 in Kenya is an excellent opportunity for the country to show off its innovations to people worldwide.

More than five thousand people, including African and international business moguls, government officials, and tech pioneers, will attend the summit. There will be in-depth debates among attendees about how to speed up digital transformation on the continent.

This involves investigating issues like lowering the cost of internet access and making it more widely available, using information and communication technologies to promote economic and social progress and encouraging entrepreneurial spirit and technological innovation.

How Kenya received the offer

The digital economy, information and communications, and Kenya’s cabinet secretary, Eliud Owalo, were excited to host the summit. To him, it’s a chance to work with other African countries to build a better digital future for Africa and to share what Kenya has learned.

It’s great news for Kenya and Africa that their bid to host TAS-2024 was successful. The summit is expected to be pivotal in propelling digital inclusion and ensuring long-term economic growth throughout Africa.

On Wednesday, representatives from the country’s technology and communications sectors gathered for a soft launch hosted by the Kenya Communications Authority (CA) to discuss the summit’s anticipated outcomes and their implications.

To discuss ways to promote innovation, cooperation, and sustainable development throughout Africa, the Summit is anticipated to gather over five thousand delegates from around the globe.

Eliud Owalo, Kenya’s Information and Communications Technology Cabinet Secretary attended Wednesday’s event and reaffirmed the government and ministry’s dedication to increasing innovation in the country and using the Summit to open more doors for Kenyans.

According to Owalo, our nation is fully prepared to host this significant summit. He promised that his country would not take the hosting rights for granted but instead view them as an opportunity to prove itself worthy of the Summit’s delegates and the positive impact it would have on the nation moving forward.

As a member of Smart Africa, Mary Mungai, CBS, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Communications Authority, stated that they can take advantage of the Transform Africa Summit as a crucial platform for regulators and lawmakers to work together and accomplish their goals as a continent.

According to CA Director General Mr David Mogonyi, Kenya and its people will be prominently featured at the forthcoming event. Mogonyi also mentioned that the event will pave the way for further innovations in Kenya.

According to Mogonyi, they are excited about the future because they will be hosting regional regulators, lawmakers, and experts from all over the globe.

The KICC will host the Transform Africa Summit 2024 from August 28th to the 30th this year.
