Kenyan MPOST launches e-P.O.Box services In Rwanda

The e-P.O. Box Service, operated by Kenya's MPOST, has officially launched in Rwanda. For millions of people in Rwanda, the postal service will be a whole new experience with the e-P.O.Box system.

Long lines and limited accessibility are commonplace in Rwanda, a country where less than 1% of the population has a connection with a post office.

Rwandans will soon be able to use their cell phone numbers as official mailing addresses thanks to MPOST's e-P.O.Box system. Thanks to this solution, there will be no need for physical P.O. Boxes, enabling more people and businesses to receive mail and packages directly from their mobile-linked e-P.O. Boxes.

Benefits of the e-P.O.Box

The following features are available to users who have signed up for e-P.O.Box:

Use any postal services, including the ability to send and receive packages.

You can quickly get a driver's licence, a passport, a logbook, or a title deed from the government.

Take advantage of e-commerce solutions and shop effortlessly on Rwandamat and other local platforms and international powerhouses like Alibaba and Amazon.

Effortlessly gain access to banking services and carry out financial transactions.

The e-P. O. Box platform will aid e-commerce enterprises in reaching a wider audience, increasing customer happiness, and decreasing delivery times by offering a reliable postal solution. As a result, local entrepreneurs and businesses will have a better chance of succeeding, increasing economic growth and establishing Rwanda as a growing centre for online commerce in the area.

An expanded selection of goods and services will be more easily accessible to Rwandan consumers, leading to a more dynamic and competitive market. More startups and established companies will be encouraged to invest in Rwanda’s digital economy because of the system’s efficiency, which will reduce logistical challenges and operational costs for e-commerce platforms.

Within the next three years, the virtual platform aims to reach more than 5 million citizens. With the integration of local postal services and the utilisation of Rwanda's high mobile phone penetration, MPOST strives to provide an inclusive solution that meets the needs of both urban and rural populations.

Why you should consider a personal P.O.Box

When asked for a post office box or address, many residents of these areas will list the closest place of worship, mosque, office, or even their parents or grandparents' homes. As a result, more and more people are using the same post office box, which compromises privacy because everyone who uses the same box can see what mail and documents each person has sent and received, and it also makes it easier for people to lose important documents like passports and driver's licence.

This new development will present all the luxury of a private P.O. Box, preventing one from missing opportunities and enjoying confidentiality.
