The Technology Service Providers Association of Kenya (TESPOK) has announced the opening of a new peering Point of Presence (PoP) at iXAfrica Data Centres’ NBOX1 facility, a significant move to improve Internet connectivity across East Africa. The partnership, revealed on Tuesday, marks a key step in enhancing regional network efficiency.

iXAfrica solidifies its position as the foundation of the fast changing digital ecosystem in East and Central Africa by being the only hyper-scale data center in the region.

With more than 35 percent of East Africans online and the continent’s population approaching 500 million, there is an enormous need for faster, more dependable, and more reasonably priced internet services.

TESPOK’s KIXP-iXAfrica Data Centres partnership goals

This collaboration between KIXP and iXAfrica Data Centers is a major turning point as cloud use and data consumption grow. It aims to:

Increase network efficiency: By enabling direct network connections, the new PoP lowers latency. For customers and businesses in Kenya and beyond, this enhancement guarantees quicker and more seamless online experiences.

Promote regional growth: The PoP improves communication efficiency for East Africa’s expanding digital economy, which is expected to reach a market value of over $10 billion by 2025, by managing regional traffic locally.

Lower Internet costs: By reducing reliance on pricey international routes, localizing traffic exchange results in savings that directly benefit end users as well as Internet service providers (ISPs).

Kenya, a renowned pioneer in digital innovation, continues to spearhead the technology revolution in the region.

TESPOK, iXAfrica’s CEOs reaction to the development
