Kuwait has stepped up its digital transformation by launching the second phase of its Digital Skills Development Initiative in collaboration with Google Cloud. By empowering the public sector workers with cutting-edge digital skills in cloud computing, AI, and cybersecurity, this action seeks to position the nation as a regional tech powerhouse.

Minister of State for Communication Affairs Omar Al-Omar hailed the initiative as a milestone, saying, “This collaboration is more than just a training program; it is a strategic investment in Kuwait’s future”.

Digital skills Initiative expands public sector expertise

Training in cloud computing, data analysis, and machine learning was provided in the first edition, which was introduced in October 2023.

The current phase builds on the success of that edition. Targeting government workers throughout Kuwait, this phase expands the program’s reach and aims to develop sophisticated and valuable skills that improve the effectiveness and calibre of public services.

Omar Al-Omar stressed that the initiative directly supports New Kuwait Vision 2035 by “empowering national cadres to master modern technology and contribute to building a knowledge and innovation-driven economy”.

Google Cloud’s commitment to Kuwait’s workforce development

Shaymaa Al-Terkait, Google Cloud’s General Manager in Kuwait, reinforced the company’s commitment to Kuwait’s digital ecosystem, emphasising that the expanded program will prepare the workforce for tomorrow’s technology landscape challenges.

The initiative includes hands-on training segments covering cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity fundamentals, and AI applications, with certification opportunities to boost credentials.

“Our partnership embodies a real commitment to enhancing Kuwait’s digital potential and establishing the country as a hub for innovation,” Al-Terkait affirmed.

Kuwait’s digital skills strategy ensures the country stays competitive and prepared for future technological needs by providing its workforce with the necessary capabilities to survive in a rapidly changing digital world through innovative public-private collaboration.
