Liquid Intelligent Technologies has launched its Gaborone Metro Ring to empower local companies in Botswana.

According to Liquid, the introduction of the metro ring will take place in two parts. During the first phase, the metro ring will be beneficial to hundreds of enterprises, and during the second phase, it will combine more links.

The tech company explained that the metro ring is a remarkable milestone in the telecommunications infrastructure of Gaborone. This achievement demonstrates the effective partnership between the public and commercial sectors to promote technology, which is greatly to the benefit of Botswana.

Odirille Tamajobe, managing director of liquid Intelligent Technologies, said that the launch of the first phase will reduce tariffs for local and international data products. This will make these products more accessible to small and medium businesses, which were previously at a disadvantage in comparison to larger enterprises.

Significance of Gaborone Metro Ring unveiling

With the launch of this new programme, Liquid demonstrates its expanding commitment to fostering the expansion of digital connection in Botswana. In the year 2020, Liquid Intelligence completed the installation of 82 kilometres of fibre in a cross-border network located in Botswana. Because of the implementation, a greater number of individuals in Botswana were able to connect to the network of more than 73,000 kilometres of Pan-African fibre owned by Liquid Intelligent Technologies and participate in the digital economy of the entire world.

In addition, the company created a set of technological services in the previous year to assist businesses situated in Botswana in making use of cloud computing in order to maintain their position of competitive advantage over enterprises based in other countries. The most recent initiative will be of assistance to the government’s strategic goal, which is called Botswana Vision 2036. This strategy intends to elevate the status of the country’s economy from that of an upper-middle income to that of a high income during the next 13 years.

“Botswana’s potential to become one of Africa’s expanding economic centres is one step closer to being realised thanks to this effort, which represents a huge step in the right direction. The successful completion of the first phase exemplifies Liquid’s commitment to satisfying the growing demand for connection and is in line with our vision of a digitally connected Botswana in which no one is left behind.

The firm, which is owned by Cassava Tech is of the opinion that expanding access to high-speed fibre connectivity is critical, not only for the promotion of telecommunications services for businesses and individuals, but also of significant social and economic advantages.

According to Liquid, the effort is also in line with the strategic plan developed by the government of Botswana called Botswana Vision 2036. This plan has the objective of elevating the country’s economic standing from upper-middle-income to high-income during the following thirteen years.

The corporation provides the following explanation: “It serves as the prime example of progress towards Botswana’s ambitious goals through technological development.”
