The CEO of Liquid Intelligent Technologies South Sudan, Martin Mushambadope, announced recently that Liquid Telecom South Sudan had been rebranded as Liquid Intelligent Technologies South Sudan.

Liquid Telecom South Sudan, the subsidiary of pan-African technology group Cassava Technologies, has officially renamed Liquid Intelligent Technologies South Sudan, reflecting the industry’s transformation into a “one-stop-shop technology group” for local businesses and consumers. The transformation also marks the introduction of many bootstrapped startup solutions, such as cloud and cyber security, to Liquid’s existing product portfolio.

The new name first appeared in South Africa in October of last year. The company stated at the time that the change had no effect on the group’s other operations. Liquid has since received a US$40 million investment from the UK government-backed CDC group, in addition to an earlier $180 million investment in 2018. The company sold $840 million in dollar bonds to pursue its growth strategy in February 2021. IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, contributed $100 million, describing itself as playing “an anchor role.”

“Our ongoing investment in our networks and data centres across Africa has uniquely positioned us to use our infrastructure to accelerate the availability of new intelligent technologies to our customers, including Cloud computing power, Artificial Intelligence, and Cyber Security.” “We are now thrilled to be putting our vision of bringing new technological opportunities to market with a highly differentiated product set supported by our existing infrastructure and digital innovation into action.” According to a statement by Nic Rudnick, Group Chief Executive Officer of Liquid Intelligent Technologies.

According to the company, as part of the re-branding, it is onboarding new skills and talent while aggressively expanding into new countries such as Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to bring network connectivity closer to more people and accelerate the development of the digital workplace.

It appointed Wole Abu as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Nigeria in December 2020. Wole is also the CEO of the company’s new Africa Data Centre (ADC) in Nigeria, which will open in January 2021.

The company plans to connect its network throughout the country to increase accessibility, including in areas far from Juba City. In addition to its existing products and connectivity services, the company plans to expand into several business services such as cloud, cyber security, and other technologies.

Liquid has brought terrestrial fibre connectivity to South Sudan since its launch in 2019, connecting it to its network across East Africa and beyond, including Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda.

The network can provide affordable internet access to South Sudanese homes and businesses while connecting mobile operators, carriers, enterprises, and government organizations in Juba.

Furthermore, the liquid investment made in the VSAT fibre network provides reliable internet access and seamless operations to remote regions while also providing backup service to those living in urban areas.

What the CEO of South Sudan says

“With this strategic rebranding to Liquid Intelligent Technologies, our customers and the country are now positioning for future applications that run on the assets we’ve built in Africa,” Mushambadope explained.

“We are looking at South Sudan becoming cutting-edge and bringing the rest of the world to South Sudan while also taking the country to the rest of the world,” he added.

According to him, the organization has been connecting offices and homes at an astonishing rate over the last two years, including during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Liquid Intelligent Technologies, a Microsoft Gold Partner, is reshaping Network, Cloud, and Cyber Security offerings through strategic alliances with leading multinationals, bringing innovative business applications, intelligent cloud services, and security interests to the African continent.

Beyond connectivity, Liquid serves South Sudan as an immediate solution to medium enterprises (SMEs) all the way up to the largest Blue-Chip partners, thereby accelerating South Sudan’s digital transformation process.

Hence, Liquid has made significant investments in its award-winning VSAT Broadband connections in order to provide reliable internet access and seamless operations to the most remote regions while also supplying subscription copies to those living in urban areas. For the benefit of the market, Liquid’s connectivity in South Sudan includes full terrestrial redundant data.

Achievements and Milestones

The London-based company, which is part of Zimbabwean businessman Strive Masiyiwa’s Econet Global group, has expanded into new countries such as Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It stated that it would broaden its unified communications services.

Liquid is a partner in Google’s Equiano subsea cable and an investor in Google’s Equiano subsea cable to expand internet access between Europe and Africa. In 2020, Liquid was granted a license to connect the cable to the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
