Mainstack, a US-based finance firm that was co-founded by Ayobami Oyaleke, has made it into the league of the top 20 startups out of the 200 worldwide startups fighting for $100,000 in equity-free funding at the TechCrunch firm Battlefield competition.

Main Stack was able to make it into this league by finishing in the top 20 of the competition.

The start-up is the only Nigerian-led and possibly the only African-founded company to reach the top 20 stage.

Mainstack is a fintech that assists entrepreneurs and creators in showcasing their work to a worldwide audience and accepting payments from that audience. They can easily create a shop, generate invoices, and manage bookings with the help of this API platform, which does not require any coding.

Startups by Nigerians in TechCrunch Startup Battlefield 200

In spite of the fact that Mainstack is the only Nigerian-led firm to have advanced to the final stage of the TechCrunch firm Battlefield 200, a wide variety of Nigerian-led startups participated.

Some examples of these startups are as follows:

Akowe is a young company that was established in the year 2020 by Ayodeji Agboola. Their mission is to harness the potential of blockchain technology in order to digitalize the process of certificate issuance and verification in Nigeria. In February of 2023, Agboola provided Techpoint Africa with the following quote: “In Nigeria, academic records are still manually maintained and are distributed in the form of tangible documents. The legitimacy of these documents can be difficult to establish due to the fact that there are additional physical processes involved.

Alusoft is an educational technology (edtech) platform that develops solutions with the primary goal of assisting students, schools, and parents. The software developed by this company, which is known as EduPorch, enables parents, schools, and students to communicate without any difficulty.

Bus54 is a startup in the mobility industry that aims to completely change the way bus travel is done in Africa. The company seeks to simplify the process of reserving buses, offer a software platform for transporters, provide funding to ensure access to fuel-efficient buses and accomplish all of these things simultaneously.
