TikTok may still be active for U.S. users, but its future remains uncertain amid a Senate-approved ban and ongoing uncertainties. The program provides eligible creators with the opportunity to earn up to $5,000 in bonuses over the course of three months for posting Reels.

What is Meta’s Breakthrough Bonuses program?

Meta’s Breakthrough Bonus program is tailor-made for creators who are new to Facebook and Instagram. Eligible participants can earn up to $5,000 in bonuses over three months by posting original content through Facebook Reels and Instagram’s equivalent feature. This is part of Meta’s effort to entice creators during a time of uncertainty for TikTok and other platforms.

Accepted creators gain instant access to Facebook’s invite-only Content Monetization program, allowing them to earn through Reels, longer videos, photos, and even text posts. Participants also receive a free trial of Meta Verified, boosting their visibility and reach as they grow their audience.

To qualify for the Breakthrough Bonuses program, creators must meet specific criteria. They must be based in the United States, be at least 18 years old, have an existing presence on a third-party social app, and set up a professional Instagram account and Facebook Page. Furthermore, they cannot already be participating in other Facebook monetisation programs.

Once enrolled, creators are required to meet specific content benchmarks, such as posting at least 20 Reels on Facebook and 10 on Instagram per month across a minimum of 10 different days. All content must be original and adhere to Meta’s Content Monetization Policies.

A shift in the creator economy

Meta’s Breakthrough Bonuses program is more than a financial incentive, it’s a calculated move to secure loyalty from creators navigating an uncertain landscape. With over $2 billion paid to creators in the past year, Meta has made it clear that it’s investing heavily in building a thriving creator economy.

With additional tools, such as insights into audience engagement and cross-platform support, the Breakthrough Bonuses program provides creators with a powerful foundation to grow their brands and communities.

With uncertainty surrounding TikTok’s future, users may soon see their TikTok favourites popping up in their IG feeds.
