Meta recently introduced a new AI video feed called “Vibes,” an engaging platform for users to create, modify, and share short AI-generated videos.

The company described Vibes as a component of the next iteration of its Meta AI app, which is also accessible on meta.ai. The objective of this feature is to transform the way in which individuals create and consume short-form video content by utilising artificial intelligence exclusively.

Vibes: create and remix AI videos seamlessly

The new Vibes feed showcases full-screen AI videos generated within the Meta AI app. Users can browse clips from various creators and communities and create original videos from inception or remix existing ones by layering music, adding visuals, and changing styles to suit their preferences.

“With Vibes, you can start from scratch, work with content you already have, or remix a video from the feed to make it your own,” explained Meta.

Once ready, videos can be shared directly to the Vibes feed, sent as direct messages, or cross-posted to Instagram and Facebook Stories and Reels. If users spot an AI video on Instagram, they can tap through to remix it directly in the Meta AI app, creating a seamless content loop.

Innovation fueled by strategic partnerships

Meta’s chief AI officer, Alexandr Wang, revealed that early versions of Vibes were developed in collaboration with AI image generators Midjourney and Black Forest Labs.

This partnership enables Meta to bring “aesthetic technology” from Midjourney into its AI models and products. Vibes joins the ongoing competition for short AI-video feeds and challenging platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels, but with a unique edge: the videos are entirely AI-generated.

Connor Hayes, Meta Vice President of Product, said Vibes was designed “to facilitate discovery of creative inspiration and experimentation with Meta AI’s media tools,” highlighting the platform’s focus on creativity driven by AI prompts.

Meta’s partnership with Vibes indicates its strategy to integrate AI technology thoroughly into social media. This will provide users with powerful and adaptable creative tools that revolutionise the production and interaction of video content across its platforms.
