MTN Côte d’Ivoire has formally begun a four-month celebration to commemorate its 20th anniversary, marking 20 years of expansion, innovation, and service in one of the most vibrant markets in West Africa.
MTN Côte d’Ivoire’s 20-year milestone
With over 16 million subscribers and 4.9 million active MoMo users, the company has expanded to become the largest mobile operator in the country since its founding in 2005. Its network coverage now reaches 93 per cent of the Ivory Coast’s population.
MTN Côte d’Ivoire has invested over ~$33.6 billion (21 trillion CFA francs) in the economy over the last 20 years, making impressive contributions. In addition to increasing infrastructure, this investment has produced 645 direct jobs and more than 150,000 indirect jobs, solidifying its position as the nation’s leading telecommunications company and a major contributor to socioeconomic development.
At the beginning of the anniversary celebrations, CEO Mitwa Kaemba Ng’ambi reflected on the company’s journey, saying that MTN Côte d’Ivoire has expanded in tandem with the country’s goals and difficulties.
Although the 20-year milestone honours past accomplishments, she underlined that it also lays the groundwork for future advancement, promising that “the best is yet to come.”
4-month program to mark 2 decades of impact
The anniversary festivities are organised around four themed months, each honouring a significant stakeholder group.
Customers are the focus of September, employees and partners are honoured in October, institutional stakeholders are the focus of November, and customers are honoured with a major festive event in December.
This strategy acknowledges the larger ecosystem that has aided MTN’s success while highlighting the company’s longstanding customer-first philosophy.
MTN’s dedication to empowering 300 million Africans
Nearly 300 million people in Africa rely on MTN Group’s networks and platforms, and the parent company celebrated the Côte d’Ivoire milestone as a reflection of its larger mission. The Group emphasised that the goal of this 20-year journey is to facilitate progress, innovation, and inclusivity throughout the continent and bring communities together.
MTN Côte d’Ivoire has pledged to step up its efforts in community impact and digital inclusion in the future. MTN will continue to build on its legacy by expanding access to digital services and empowering communities in Côte d’Ivoire and beyond, and the anniversary is seen as a launching pad for the future rather than a destination.
