MTN seeks to lead the delivery of a bold new digital world and become South Africa’s leading digital platform business by 2025. To achieve this, the company is set to recruit 150 digital experts.
MTN South Africa’s chief of human resources Tebogo Maenetja said in a statement that the company is looking for youngsters to join it, as well as people with high-level digital skills and aptitude. “We are innovating more and investing to lead with platforms that will all be powered by the nation’s best network,” said Maenetja. “Our experts and expertise will be central to helping us bring these benefits of the modern, digital world to more South African citizens, but we know our success will be measured by the quality of our people and our ability to create and to influence and improve the lives of all.”

MTN’s expansion plans are also aimed at helping South Africa recover from the unrelenting job losses experienced as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
The country’s unemployment rate for the third quarter of 2021 reached a record high of 34.9%, the highest it has been since 2008.
The new positions it’s looking to fill cover many new critical roles, including product owners, scrum masters, E-commerce experts, performance marketers, User experience and user interface designers, business analysts, and digital content specialists.

According to the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), certain 4IR (Fourth Industrial Revolution) technologies experienced a surge in South Africa during the COVID-19 pandemic. Artificial Intelligence (AI), which is used in medical diagnosis, the Internet of Things for consumer goods, and mobile apps for financial transactions, transport, and utility vending are some examples.
The digital learning platforms that universities and schools use, virtual reality for teaching and learning, and mobile applications for financial transactions, transportation, and utility vending, are just a few of the other important technologies.
