Mukuru, MoneyGram partner to expand cross-border payments in Africa

Mukuru, one of Africa’s biggest fintech firms, has joined forces with MoneyGram to transform cross-border payments across Africa, Asia, and other regions.

The two finance companies collaborate to offer millions of users faster, cheaper, and more accessible remittance services.

Mukuru’s 1,250 Southern African locations and MoneyGram’s global payout coverage create a seamless payment experience.

“This is a milestone moment for Mukuru and the communities we serve. Together with MoneyGram, we are not just extending our network — we are building a technology bridge between traditional cash services and digital ecosystems. Our shared goal is to make cross-border payments simpler, faster, and more inclusive,” said Mukuru’s Group CEO Andy Jury.

The deal offers Mukuru customers access to MoneyGram’s vast payout network across Asia and Africa, providing multiple options for receiving funds.

MoneyGram customers gain entrance into Mukuru’s reliable agent locations, ensuring liquidity and dependable last-mile delivery.

Colin Marnewecke, MoneyGram’s VP for Africa sales, remarked, “Our shared mission is advancing financial inclusion by meeting customers where they are, whether through cash, mobile, or digital channels, and ensuring the best possible experience at the best price”.

This partnership leverages technology to make secure, instantaneous cross-border transactions a reality.
